 Blog # 17 - Langkawi, Malaysia

In the past we've stayed several times at Langkawi's resorts in between our work schedules. This time, we decided to actually explore the island

Gorgeous day - clean environment and friendly locals

Shopping center has Moslem architectural design influence

Temperature and humidity starting to climb
                               Pretty jungle and ocean vistas

Plenty of wildlife in the bush

Coconuts are everywhere on the island

                                        At least it's clean...

Observation tower and restaurant
We had an opportunity to visit a local museum that emphasized Malay history and culture
Locals used a caged male song bird and a unique trap to attract other birds

Older design cages

                        Typical percussion and wind instruments

                            Carpet-making demonstration
We went to an old rubber plantation
The first step in getting rubber is to cut the tree with a sharp blade
Rubber liquid slowly begins to drip out of the cut and into a pail
It's a slow process. Notice the small drop of rubber dripping in   the pail
Humidity continue to rise - 90% and very sweaty
We heard a rustle in a nearby tree. It is always a pleasant surprise to see animals in the wild
