Europe Blog # 6: Stockholm and Viking Cruise
This is our itinerary
Jerry's hobby: He collected international and micro-brewery beer bottles. There were so many in his collection (>1000) he migrated to simply taking photos of labels.
On our list was this "tourist" attractionIt was great fun. Brought back memories about the famous Swedish group. We used to sing ABBA's songs in the car when our family traveled to Mammoth to go skiing.
Movie clips of concerts were fun to watch
All the visitors at the museum had non-stop smiles
Finished product!
Waterloo...
One of their recording studios
Typical dressing room
It's hard to believe we've been following this group since the 70's
Arlene sings "Dancing Queen" with ABBA!
ABBA continues on -- linked with the New York hit show, "Chess!"
We wanted a light dinner at the hotel. Arlene ordered a "Small Plate" of shrimp. There were over sixty shrimp! Half of the "Small Plate" was given to another couple.Jerry ordered a "small steak." The amount was more like a "side of beef!" Besides the small potatoes, the dish came with a side of fries and veggies. It was impossible to finish. However, through the shrimp, we met hotel guests sitting next to us from Cyprus, Romania and from the states. Lots to talk about. It was an unexpected and fun evening!
When we arrived at the boat, we discovered our travel agent, Heather, sent us this delicious amenity.
Viking Vela leaves the Stockholm dock - starting our cruise
The town's coast and the many islands provide beautiful and interesting things to see.
Plenty of upscale homes along the coastline. Nighttime also offers great views Playing Black Jack using a "video game" approachThe Viking Vela is a new ship. There is a "familiarity" between this boat and the other ones in the fleet. Much of the layout and design is the same or with minor, upgraded "tweaks." Pretty presentation for "just" a waffle. A creative dessert
