Europe Blog # 12: Copenhagen and Alborg

Copenhagen:

Plenty of ferries transporting people and vehicles within Denmark and between European countries
                            Many tankers traverse the area

One of the main Copenhagen canals
                            The famous "Little Mermaid!"
Denmark does not have a lot of snow. Locals love skiing. Behind and to the right side of the photo is a manmade ski slope.
                                        A piece of history
This statue uses cannons and cannon balls pulled up from a ship that sunk during a naval battle years ago.
Plenty of picturesque parks throughout the area. The church in the background belonged to a king. It seems each king had to have his own church. Charles (England) recently came to the church - recognizing a past king's relationship with the UK.
These little houses are used for the royal family as they wait for their yacht to arrive.
Opera house financed by the Maersk (Shipping) family
                    Plenty of modern-looking buildings
This was an unexpected manhole find. Putting aside Jerry stood in the middle of the street while cars were going by, this manhole recognized the bike race.
Visiting a palace is always fun

The royal family (somewhat) lives together. Each family has its own building for their home.
                                            A little cluttered

Having an heir is (always) important. If there is no son, a daughter is sent out to find a husband to ensure hereditary continuity.
Public restroom has elaborate stall doors
After a full day, Arlene makes it to the pillow for a nap!
Too tired - we decided to have room service for dinner.
One of the tallest men in the world: Sultan Kosen from Turkey was 8 feet and 2.8 inches.

Alborg
Like Germany, Denmark is moving quickly in the direction of sustainable energy. These are wind turbine blades are ready for installation in the ocean...they are huge!
Although an old town, 20,000 university students live and study in modern buildings. Although the school offers all majors, Engineering is very popular. Students are guaranteed a job!
The architect for the Sydney opera house designed this building
It was a surprise to see an English pub in Aalborg
                                          Local manhole
Even in this AI and Google world, there are over 200 libraries in Denmark
Hopefully, this is a "Child Care" program and NOT one family!

                                     Local companies

Finishing a great day with a good dinner!
