Europe # 1 - Amsterdam

                                                                     Amsterdam # 1

We're looking forward to to new and exciting adventures

Gourmet food at the LAX (Air France) lounge

Our KLM flight is ready to take-off
Clever use of combining airline announcements with Dutch tiles

First time - stem glassware on a plane

KLM served excellent meals - poached egg for breakfast, lobster appetizer for dinner

Big surprise! Passengers gifted with a ceramic model home. Each home has historical significance. Liquor is inside.

Charming young woman helped with wheel chairs and luggage

Our hotel neighborhood -  Nice walking area

Hotel counter decorated with traditional (miniature) wooden Dutch shoes

                         Exhausted but ready to explore

                              Jerry finds his first manhole

                                        A weeee bit windy

                                        Ornate train station

Always fun to explore European train station shops

Hotel room wall paper depicts famous paintings

First dinner was at a restaurant with historical decorations and traditional food. Carpets (rather than tablecloths) are used to protect tabletops. Older generation folks continue to use carpets

                        Cute decorations throughout restaurant

Fries and a dish made up of gravy, mash potatoes, meatball and bacon was a traditional dish. Lots of starch!

                                        After dinner stroll

                             Interesting bike contraption

Arlene befriends one of the "locals!"

After-dinner traditional waffle dessert - Carmel is between the layers

                                Amazing designer, artistic shoes

Perhaps this "new look" will soon hit the states!?!?!

Plenty of ornate buildings throughout Amsterdam

The train station "glows" from the 9:30 PM evening's sun

Due to we're further north than LA, sunlight is much longer
