                                                   Europe April/May # 30

  Antibes, Nice and Nearby Areas

Early morning arrival at Antibes (France)

Another form of transportation: Local shuttle from ship anchored offshore to port
Plenty rooms with a view
Small, picturesque ports are always fun to explore
This was a good time to tour the area. Few tourists. We were the only cruise ship in the port
Memorial for French soldiers killed in WWI and WWII
It's always interesting to see and enjoy older architectural designs

This place would be great for a period movie
Another unique manhole design
This is the low-end section of luxury ships
We think this was Paul Allen's (Microsoft) toy
Entrance to medieval section of Antibes
Pulley used years ago to open and close town door
Fishermen had just returned. It was fun watching them clean fish and repair nets
Many boats in the port
Plenty of "nooks and crannies" to take photos
One of the older homes
Jerry likes this manhole design. It has a medieval shield appearance to it
Historical door knockers can be "date referenced" by the location of the ring on the finger. This one was Louis XIV era. Louis XV and XVI had rings on different fingers. Napoleon era door knockers did not have a ring; rather, it was the bee representing immorality and resurrection.
Peering through a gate at a Michelin Restaurant. Notice the plates on the table
Painting on an old wooden door
This is a high-end and expensive "farmer's market." Chefs from the luxury yachts buy food at this place.
Check out this tomato display - each one is perfect
Colorful spices
Exotic smells permeate the area
Choose your "color" or in this case, tomatoes

We tried an odd-tasing (chic-pea etc.) pizza-like tortilla. There was  huge line up for this novelty. We would give it a 7/10
Does anyone want to get "high?"
We love the old art form/graphics
It's fascinating how food can become an art form
Food has now become a table decoration
