Architecture and Santa Severina's (Italy) Hilltop Village

After visiting the Trulii homes, we had a surprise visit to a beautiful area set up for large parties, weddings, etc. We snacked on local food and tasted local wines
We found an odd situation. Old pieces of cut wood were piled on top of a stone wall
Throughout the area of Bari and Crotone, old buildings still reflect an older period of time

Technology for the cruise ship's entertainment system is amazing. Acts use a 3-D effect as well as holograms

Our ship
Viking has taken a page out of Downton Abbey. Much like Mr. Carlson (Butler) would carefully measure the placement of the dinner table service, Viking staff use a templet to ensure chairs and pillows are perfectly aligned. The staff is always cleaning and guests are asked clean their hands with a disinfectant spray as they enter dining areas

We were playing around with a "selfie" using the bus mirror - busses are run half empty
We happened to spot a "doll house" built with pieces of scrap wood

Plenty of hilltop villages and towns - We love the small ones
On our way to Severina
Many curves to reach the  historical village
There's a castle or fortress on top
This is Santa Severina Castle
Construction started in the 11th Century - finished around the 15th century
Many different cultures occupied the fortress

Different materials and design reflect a varied group of people occupying the place

Ouch!

"Friends"

Does anyone have a can opener?
Archeologist and scientists are constantly uncovering things
This guy must have had a bad headache!

Pieces of frescoes recently found

Art
The fortress first started out with the intent of protecting the villagers. Overtime, the fortress was used to keep the villagers out of the place

A whistle - very rare

Flute: Also rare
Old coins
Metal items were found
Ceiling art
 art on doors

Theater performed at the castle

These are some of the costumes used by the actors
