Europe April/May # 20
Dinner, R&R and Visiting Spello
Veggies balance cheese, wine, meat and pizza Another "go to" veggie for an Umbria meal: Agretti root or Saltwort
Hmm...how much cheese do we need for tonight's dinner?
On sale! Maybe we should buy a few packages!?!?!?! Perfect combination: Truffle chips with fat laced with a bit of bacon meat. Maybe not...
Anyone for eel? Everything is super fresh. Not one hint of a fishy odor A slab of meat might hold us over until breakfast! Roosters, chickens, magpies and other critters use the tall grass near the villa for their home
Time to return to the villa after a hard day of touring Ahh... For a moment, the sun's rays shined on this tree
Relaxation time is over - More towns to discover
Plenty of hilltop towns in this area
Parking spots is often a luxury
A very special treat was waiting for us
A Roman villa was recently discovered
We've seen Roman mosaics in the past; never this amount and as beautiful
The owner of this home must have been very wealthy
Designing, making the mosaic pieces and laying them out must have taken a very long time
Beautiful!
The villa had plenty of rooms
Holograms depict what the rooms looked like when Romans were living in this villa
Villa had plenty of art and decorations
The mosaic designer had an excellent sense of geometric design and perspective
Upper left item is a coin
Flowers offer a nice contrast to the old buildings
We needed a piece of pizza even though we just had breakfast. Notice the pizza was cut with a scissors
Pretty walkways with lots of flowers
This is one of the more complex stained glass widows that we have seen on the trip
Tourist shop sells walnut shells filled with religious symbols
Interesting hat, purse and accessory store
