Assisi

It's time to look for St. Francis (of Assisi)

There are just as many towers in Umbria as McDonald's
Castles or forts are usually located at the highest point of a town

Love all those stairs

Pretty garden
We discovered a unique art store
Artists are able to buy paint in large quantities as well as mix colors to get a special effect
There must have been a fire many years ago. The front of this building is discolored from smoke
We thought we were all "churched out" from previous trips. Not the case. There are always more unique and pretty churches to explore
One of the more important churches: Teenage students were visiting as part of a school outing
Most of the church ceilings are gorgeous!
This is a "WOW'

Church frescoes tell religious stories for those that cannot read

We found a store that sells clothing for the clergy
Time to knit a cashmere sweater
Finally! St. Francis church
It was quite a hike to find the place
Nice view - worked up an appetite
With all of our climbing stairs and navigating down steep and slippery walkways, it was time to eat - AGAIN!
This is polenta
We were thirsty. Most of the 8+ glasses of wine were consumed
Room with a view
Many areas needed restoration
Another fun hat store
Unusual and elaborate crosses
Waiting for Uber?
