Israel - Jerusalem, # 8, cont

                                                         Israel - Jerusalem, # 8

Exhausted but happy, we pushed forward to see a "Sound and Light" show at the Tower of David

We were startled to see a "Chihuly" hanging from the Tower's entrance

Each projection represents a different part of Jerusalem history

As a reminder, we are looking at lit up imagery on the wall

We returned to our apartment - got settled - discovered that our bedroom was built to protect the occupants from a missile attack. There is a very heavy metal door that can be pulled across the window. When closed, glass won't be blown into the room should there be an attack. The door to the bedroom is "heavy-duty" metal.

Had to get up early for today's touring. Having a balcony and eating outside is fun.

          Great view from apartment

One of the fiercest battles during the Six Day War occurred at this site.

Presentation: Lots of B&W films from both sides of the battle

Surviving soldiers told their battle story in the presentation

Typical equipment used during the battle

                                                                Let's Go!

Fighting was very difficult in these trench conditions
We had a much better understanding about how soldiers had to fight in these narrow trenches. If someone was wounded or killed, there was no time to remove him from the area. Other soldiers would have to step on the man to move forward.

                                                    Typical bunker.
Moshe was in the army - experienced "battle conditions" in the southern part of Israel

                                                Bullet holes are still visible

                                                                Pretty church

This is the room where the "Last Supper" was to have taken place.

Many of the religious buildings will have symbols from other religions

Yeshiva students play basketball when they need a break from their studies

Before we left on this trek (trip), we realized climbing stairs and walking on rough/slippery surfaces was not something we wanted to do. I guess we didn't get the memo! We must have climbed up and walked down "thousands" of steps - daily!
