Latin America # 2

 Latin America # 2

First dinner on ship

Pretty dinner plate

Catamaran ride to reef to see wild stingrays

Leaving marina. Plenty of mangroves in area and very fancy homes

Time to set foot on shallow reef. Water was very warm
Where are the stingrays?

There’s one! It’s huge!

Stingray skin has two texture feelings: Slimy and sandpaper. Spinal cord protrudes along top of its back. It has a feeling much like a dull saw.

Time to hold onto, "Michelle!" WOW! She’s no lightweight!

Time to feed squid to Michelle. OMG! Warning! Keep fingers and thumb clinched downward. Stingrays do not have teeth. They suck food into the mouth. The “sucking” sensation was startling! Very powerful sucking capability. Also, we were warned not to rub our hands (from the squid) onto our trunks. Stingrays will go after our legs.

Catamaran crew told us there are not a lot of large fish in the area i.e. sharks, barracuda, etc. Whoa! The barracuda were about five to six feet long!

This was a great day. Could be the hi-lite of the cruise and the cruise just started!
