Tired, happy and looking forward to returning to France and visiting with our son and his family.
Arriving soon
Heading to Aix -en-Provence. Train to Marseilles is late. Elevator to train platform is broken. Back-up elevator doesn’t stop at our platform. Luggage cart not allowed in platform area. Running out of time to reach the platform. No one around to help!
Jerry solved problem. He sent all of our luggage down the escalator, much like a conveyor belt. Many of the passengers below on the platform were upset, yelled and called him nasty names.
Surprise! Our seats were assigned to the upper level of the train car. With luggage on train and moving, Arlene gets an (unexpecting) passenger to help lug all of the luggage (four heavy pieces) to the upper level.
French country side is gorgeous.
Train stops for less than five minutes. Hundreds of passengers have to try to disembark, others board --- as well as their handling of luggage, baby strollers, dogs, cats
and purchased items. Jerry (by himself) had to lower the luggage while trying
to navigate through the other passengers and narrow steps. Tough going! Hopefully, never again...
Finally --- exhausted, but happy
Cecile makes a special, “welcome” quiche.
